Lawrence "Larry" Stengel
FUNERAL HOME
Shalom Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Park
1700 West Rand Road
Arlington Heights, IL
On October 11, 2021, at the age of 79, Larry Stengel lost a valiant battle to survive a tragic accident with all the strength he could muster. Loved and loving husband for 45 years of Renee (Rotstein) Stengel; devoted son of the late Leo and Ann (Linetzky) Stengel; dear brother of Mitchell Stengel (Caroline Walker) and Arthur (Debby) Stengel; treasured brother-in-law of Carol (the late Earl) Arkin; caring cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend to many.

Underestimated by those who didn't know him well enough but treasured by those who did, he gave so much to so many, often teaching them more than they wanted to know but found worthwhile. Larry shared a deep and special love with Dalia, Angelica and Monica; Nancy, Isabella and Louie; Marco and Maria, Frankie and Domerica, and Veronica and their kids and extended families. He was not just a businessman but a friend to many of his customers.

The family expresses deep appreciation and thanks to his wonderful nurses and staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Graveside service Monday 12:00 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Dear Renee and family, We are so sad for you. Larry was a close friend of my brothers and played a major part in my life growing up. I can visualize him on our stoop or at the kitchen table. How fortunate we all are to have had him in our lives. Rebecca (Becky) Feinstein Goold

I want to offer my condolences to Larry's family. I grew up a few doors from the Stengels on Merrill Avenue and I remember the family fondly. I especially want to extend my sympathies to Mitch and Arthur. Jack Block

Larry was always one of my favorite cousins. We first bonded when he gave taught me how to solve his interlocking puzzle toys during the Norfolk Hotel post bowling lunches when he was an "adult" and I was still a "child", and that bond has continued throughout the years, renewing every couple of years as the bowling party tradition continues. He was always a generous and kind spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May his memory be for blessing. Love, Amy
