Larry Wernisch of Greenfield died on August 26 at age 71. Larry grew up in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee and attended Bay View High School before enlisting in the Air Force in 1968. He served four years as an aviation mechanic, including one year in Vietnam.

Following his service, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Larry provided more than 20 years of dedicated service as a Social Worker to the State of Wisconsin prior to retirement. He loved playing his guitars, photography, spending time at the range and, for many years, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and mother, Beverly. Remembered by his brother, Greg (Laurie Marston) and sister, Judy Wiese (Bruce). Beloved uncle to Angela Mangold (Jim) and Matt Gunkel (Hope). Great uncle to Addie, Laney, and Caden Mangold and Kylie and Paige Gunkel.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM at Heritage Funeral Homes, 4800 S. 84th St., Greenfield. A Memorial Service will follow at 7PM. Private inurnment at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wisconsin Humane Society would be appreciated.
