Louis DeBella Obituary

Louis Patrick DeBella, age 83, passed away Wednesday, October 5th, from a short battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Lou was born and raised in Chicago to Philip and Dora DeBella (Pinto), of blessed memory, in 1933. Lou and his beloved wife Joan (nee Bartolotta, who predeceased him in 2009), moved to Orland Park in 1978. Lou was the owner and operator of LDB Movers for over 35 years, where Joan took care of the estimating and scheduling along with raising their two children. Lou was a member of many civic and social organizations including the Raiano SAC, Elks BPOE Lodge #1596 and the St. George Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, just to name a few. In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball, bowling and golf. He especially enjoyed playing cards and had many standing games each week with good friends. Lou and Joan enjoyed many wonderful adventures while on vacations together and with family. A die-hard Cubs fan since 1945, he enjoyed attending many games throughout the years with his family through thick and thin and was able to attend games last season and this season. Lou was a devoted and involved father of Michelle D. (Dennis) Monbrod and Louis J. DeBella. Adored grandfather of Louis, Jr., Daniel, Melanie, Stefanie and Dylan. He could be seen at their baseball games, softball games and concerts. Lou was a loving brother to his sister Francie (Jerome) Slonke and his brother Mike (Sharon, both deceased). He was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews and a great friend to many. All of whom will miss his love, friendship and his sense of humor deeply. A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28th, at 9 a.m. in the narthex and a Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church, his parish of 38 years, located at 7399 West 159th Street in Tinley Park, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to the Friends of the New Lenox Public Library, 200 Veterans Parkway, New Lenox, Illinois, 60451, where he always enjoyed the Spring Arts Festival, would be appreciated.

James and I have wonderful memories of your parents, and will always treasure them. Yes your dad is rooting for the Cubs ,and maybe can pull some strings up there. We know his family was the most important thing in his life. He sure loved all his grandchildren, his trains ,and all those Santas. I still have the memory of aunt Freda putting her fist in Santas mouth, and that was the time he worked. Love my memories, it will keep you going. Love Jim and Marianne.
