On Monday, July 5, 2021, Margaret "Marge" A. Nagle (nee McCarthy), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, after she just recently celebrated her milestone birthday with her entire family. Marge was born on June 21, 1931 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of John and Elizabeth McCarthy. Marge earned a degree in Food and Nutritional Science from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN and worked as a dietician at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. She later worked at Marshall Fields on State Street, Chicago, developing menus for The Walnut Room restaurant. She married the love of her life, Joe Nagle, on Oct. 29, 1955. Together, they joyfully raised 8 children: Dr. Anne Nagle (Michael) Knippen, Mary B. (Bob) Mathews, Katie Nagle, Patrick (Darcie) Nagle, Margaret (Bill) Hogeboom, Julie Nagle (partner David Swanson) and Joan (Scott) Cramer. Marge leaves behind 10 adoring grandchildren: Mike and Jamie Knippen, Amy (Matt) Styka and Steve Mathews, Joe and Dan Nagle, John and Joe Hogeboom, and Ben and Matt Cramer, and one great grandchild, Ellie Styka. Marge also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and good friends, including all the friends and staff at Chestnut Square. To say family and friends were important to Marge is an understatement! Marge was generous, witty and welcoming. She cheered on the Chicago Bears, loved a good joke, a clever story, reading the daily newspaper and most of all, being with her family and good friends. Her faith was evident in the way she lived. She could make a stranger feel like a friend. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; sons, Jim and Joe Jr.; great granddaughter, Madeline Styka, her parents, John and Elizabeth (nee Scholer) McCarthy; siblings, John, Betty, Bill, Dick, Tom and Judy. Visitation Tuesday July 20, 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m at St. Raymond de Penafort Catholic Church, Elmhurst Rd. (Rt. 83) & Lincoln St., Mount Prospect, IL 60056. The Byrne Family of Mt. Prospect are sad to have learned of Marge's passing. I heard her name mentioned at Mass at St. Raymond. My Mother was a class ahead at Marywood and was saddened at the news also. We'll keep the Nagle and McCarthy families in our prayers.
