Marianne W. Davis

Davis, Marianne Williams Hoover Died peacefully on February 11, 2012 at The Glenview in Naples, FL. She died just 3 weeks short of living 97 wonderful years, and was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Davis, Jr. MD, and son, Robert P. Davis, MD. She is survived by three remaining sons, Carl B., James D., and William B. Davis, and 4 daughter-in-laws, Wahleah, Leigh, Susan, and Anne; 8 grandchildren; one great grandson; two great granddaughters,; numerous nieces and nephews. Prior residences include Evanston and Golf, IL; Green Lake, WI; Delray Beach, FL. Marianne, led an active life with emphasis on serving her church as a Stephen's Minister, and in her charitable activities in the Chicago area serving as President of the Evanston Junior League, and President and Board member of the Hadley School for the Blind. She was competitively minded and particularly enjoyed tennis and football supporting all members of her family over multiple generations culminating in the annual "Davis Cup". She was beautiful, intelligent, inquisitive, resilient, and had a quick mind and spirit right up to the end. She will be remembered fondly by her friends and extended family, and missed and loved dearly by three generations of Davis'. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Naples United Church of Christ; The Glenview Employee Scholarship Fund, or Avow Hospice - Naples, FL; or to The Hadley School for the Blind - Winnetka, IL.
