Marie E. Billmeyer

Billmeyer, Marie Elizabeth 88, of Dubuque, IA, and formerly of the Chicago area, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 in Dubuque. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Resurrection Catholic Church, Dubuque, IA. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville, IA. Friends may greet the family from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Marie was born February 7, 1924 in Hazel Green, WI, the daughter of Charles and Goldie (Lavery) Staver. She married John Billmeyer on October 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1996. Marie attended Mercy School of Nursing, and was employed as a private duty nurse in Iowa City and for the Bateman School in Chicago. She lived most of her married life in Chicago, and returned to Dubuque in 1998. Marie was a member of Resurrection Parish. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Bruce Billmeyer of Elk Grove Village, IL, and Lisa (Pat) Esch of Asbury, IA; her grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Schneider of Marion, IA, Jeremy (Suzy) Esch of Davenport, IA, and Megan Esch of Cedar Rapids, IA; her great grandchildren, Cooper and Olive Esch and Stella Schneider; her brother, Don (Joan) Staver of Panora, IA; two sisters in law, Kathy (Kenneth) Meyer of Dyersville, IA, and Loma Kerkenbush of Winona, MN; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Kathleen, Juanita, and Millie Staver, Hazel Hendricks, and her twin, Frances Einsweiler; her brother, Charles Staver; her brothers in law, Donald Einsweiler and Irvin Kerkenbush; and her nephew, Robert Einsweiler.
