Marvin Miller, age 83, attended Marshall High School, beloved husband of the late Phoebe, nee Kohn; loving father of Abbe (William Hann) Buck, Bennett Miller, Claudia Negron, Daniel (Marcy) Miller and the late Jeffrey Miller; adored grandfather of Eugene, Phoebe, Priscilla, Michael, Julie and Jackson; proud great-grandfather of Joel and Kayla; cherished brother of Elaine (late Marvin) Krause. Graveside service Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose, Norridge. Info The Goldman Funeral Group, Irwin Goldman Director (847) 478-1600.

I love you.
I miss you here in Earth.
I am glad you are my Father.
You gave me many, many gifts.
You will always be with me.
You and your laugh, your charm, your intelligence, your street smarts,
Carried your oldest daughter through life.
You loved to dance,
To sing,
A great film about your people,
The stage, the world of Orchard Street, of Rooaevelt Road.
You were a great storyteller.
You had your ups, your downs,
And you always had an opinion.
Always.
You had me in riding with you to Mama Batts Restaurant for Matzo Ball Soup in a dark pink lincoln continental singing Gershwin, Kern, Berlin and yeah, that Bunny Berigan song to me back when I was nine years old and I have been singing Ira Gershwin and Vernon("Vladimir!") Duke ever since.
And
Always.
And I always knew the history of every single song,
And that every single songbin the tin pan alley told a story and why it had to.
That the songs and YES, Pa, the JEWS that wrote them, had a legacy.
That my great grandfather was a Cantor in Shull.
That little Abbe Miller, named for your father, had a voice.
Has a voice.
For you, Pa.
For my Father.
I still have time.
I still have a voice.
I will help others find theirs.
