I knew Mary Ellen when we were teenagers - she lived in AZ, and occasionally visited neighbors of ours in Virginia, MN ( Esther and Charles Goodman).
When I was in 10 th grade ( about 1950) I was invited to AZ to visit her and her family (Maxine and their parents)...it was a trip I have never forgotten...Wonderful family, so gracious and hospitable. ANd I adored Mary Ellen. On New Year's eve we went to a beautiful event in Nogales, Mexico, if I recall correctly.
I am in touch with Barbara Goodman Sagen, daughter of the Goodmans, and the happy memory of Mary Ellen came to mind, so I Googled, of course. And saw her memorial...so very sorry that she had died...too young, and judging by her obituary, she had led an exemplary and fulfilling life.
Although we lost touch many many years ago, her memory remains strong in my mind, and I'm sure yours as well.
