Merle lived and died on her terms. She was perceptive, wise, loyal, generous to a fault, and devoted to those she cared for. A unique individual by any standard, she was loved and admired. She will be sorely missed.

We, Merle's cousins, will miss her presence and pleasant smile. I always looked forward to hearing of her travels and comparing theater notes. What a sad day. My deepest sympathy.
