Michael Altschul Obituary

Age 67, of Algonquin, IL, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 after a long struggle with liver disease. Beloved Husband of Rose (nee LaPaglia). Loving Father of Mark, Matt (Patricia) and Kristin (Brian Herb). Proud Grandfather of Emili, Meaghan, Christopher, Brandon, Benjamin and Nicholas. Fond Brother of Louis. Preceeded in death by sister Cathy Rice (Nee Altschul) and parents Ben and Florence (Nee Sullivan) Altschul. Uncle to many favorite neices and nephews. He will be missed by all. A Private Memorial Service will be held on January 26, 2013.

I met him in Oklahoma City when he was here with his wife visiting his daughter Kristin and family. Very engaging man...a salesman like me. The kind of guy you could talk to for hours. At the time I had just finished "Devil In the White City" by Erik Larsen....and Mr. Altschul knew quite a bit about the turn of the 20th century Chicago Worlds Fair construction and architecture. Only wish I would have gotten to spend more time with him, but really glad I got to have dinner with him that night.

So many special memories of Mickey. I was watching a little almost 4 month old yesterday evening and gave him Mickey's rules. That is my girls favorite quote. I am so proud and lucky to have been one of the favorite nieces. My heart and prayers are with you all right now
