Michael John Lang, 18, of LaGrange. Beloved son of Paul and Kathleen. Loving brother of Matthew. Devoted grandson of Jane (late Ken) Lettich, (late Paul Lang), and the late Elaine (late Robert) Zengeler. Visitation 3 to 8pm Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers 10:15am Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 at the funeral home to St. Francis Xavier Church, LaGrange for Mass at 11am. The livestream will begin 10 to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled funeral start time of 11am. (Please use Chrome when streaming the funeral. Do not use Internet Explorer or Safari.) Due to current health regulations, a maximum of 50 people are allowed in the funeral home at any one time, masks and social distancing required at the funeral home and at church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Heart Assn. appreciated. Mike was a student at the University of Dayton. During the summers, he loved caddying at LaGrange Country Club. We don’t know each other I live in a neighboring town. When I was driving through La Grange I noticed a woman tying red ribbons around the trees and thought to myself what could have happened. Then the next day I saw the tragic news. Words can’t express how sorry I am for your loss. When I read your interview to hug your kids and tell them how much you love them...I couldn’t stop crying. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. My family and I are praying for you and Michael. May God help heal your broken hearts during this long journey.

My family and I are strangers to you but we all mourn your unimaginable loss of a beloved child. I am a nurse so any loss during this pandemic is heartfelt but the loss of one so young really tugs at my heart.
Our losses include parents, grandparents, and cousins. The only advice I can offer is to remember Michael's wonderful life, beautiful smile, and all of the wonderful moments you had with him. He is watching over you and you will feel his arms surrounding you when you most need him.
As you mentioned in an interview- tell your children you love them. I have 2 biological boys and another non-biological boy in my house currently. We all say "I love you" frequently.
God Bless you and your family and you all will be in our thoughts and prayers.

From the nurses involved in Mike's care, we are thinking about you Paul, Kady, and Matt. Mike is watching over you all and we hope you can one day look back at the 18 years you had with him as a beautiful blessing. A life need not be long-lived for it to have been meaningful. We are honored that we were able to take care of him and we are so sorry for your loss. Fly high Mike.

I unfortunately did not get the chance to know Michael and I cannot fathom what your family is going through right now. I am so very sorry for your loss. As a UD professor and COVID-19 long-hauler, it breaks my heart that you lost someone so precious to you. It's hard to wrap my head around why I, someone twice your son's age, is still here. I know this in no way diminishes your pain, but I do want you to know that he will always remain in my thoughts as I study the effects of COVID-19 on young adults. Your family remains deep in my thoughts.

I was raised Catholic and spent two years in a convent (Oldenburg Indiana) when in my teens.
I lost my 39 year old brother, Ralph, in 1981.
Sharing with You, Ralph has given me several signs that there is life beyond this earthly visit. Ralph was and is "a Saint".
