Michael Stroka Obituary

Michael A. Stroka of Western Springs, passed away June 14, 2023, at the age of 53.

He was the most adoring husband to his wife, Nancy, and devoted father to their four children: William, Elizabeth, Margaret and Edward. He was a pillar to his father, Albert "Bud," and late mother, Susan "Sue" Stroka.

Mike is survived by his mother-in-law Grace Shon, brother-in-law Phillip Shon (Leah), seven siblings: Donna (Jack) Brunner, James (Yvonne) Stroka, Paul (Elizabeth) Stroka, Thomas (Maureen) Stroka, Martin Stroka, Mary (Michael) Payne and Maureen (Peter) Hlawitschka, as well as 17 nieces and nephews - all who will remember his sense of humor and devotion to the family.

Mike was the CEO of the American Nutrition Association, which he founded after suffering a serious health condition that was reversed through nutrition. Leaving behind a career in management consulting, his focus and life mission was to move nutrition to the core of our health and health care system.

Mike received an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and a JD from UVA School of Law with Distinction after graduating magna cum laude at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He was a licensed Illinois attorney and a licensed nutritionist in Illinois. He was also a certified nutrition specialist. (CNS).

A memorial service will be held on July 14, 2023 at 1pm at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to travel and the link will be available upon request.

Along life's journey you may have the good fortune to meet people who inspire you through their genuine nature, their passion for what they believe in, and their desire to do good. Mike was just such an inspirational leader...who cared deeply about the world and all those around him. His passion for a better tomorrow will endure through the deeds and actions of his family and friends. I am grateful for the short time we had together as friends and colleagues. Rest In Peace, Mike!

Mike was so passionate about his nutrition mission and always willing to help those he could help. He was inspirational. My condolences go out to his family and friends at ANA. Mike was truly a blessing.

I worked with Michael for the last 20 years. I was his trademark attorney for his three nutrition-related entities. Michael was a joy to work with. I was so grateful that he took a risk on me and moved with me from a big law firm to a much smaller firm in 2015--he was one of my first clients to move. Michael, an attorney himself, was very reasonable in his requests, brilliant in his analysis, always trying to do the best thing for his institutions and so friendly. I would like many more clients like him. I was crushed to hear of his passing, too soon in his young life. My heart goes out to his family, friends and colleagues--I hope you can find solace and acceptance around his untimely death.
