Miriam R. McLellan
1935 - 2021
Miriam R. McLellan nee Court, age 85, of Evanston, IL passed away February 12, 2021 of natural causes. She was born on December 20, 1935 in La Romana, Dominican Republic. She and her family moved to New York when she was 7 years old. She met her husband, Kenneth McLellan in New York, where they married on April 29, 1956. In 1963, they moved to Wilmette, IL where they raised 4 children.

Always active, she loved tennis, golf, dancing, gardening, and bridge. Every spring, she traveled with her friends to Sanibel Island. In 1977, she lost her two oldest children in a house fire and it was her strength and love that helped her family through that tragedy. Being of service was vital to Miriam, and helping others brought her joy, as did doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Miriam is survived by her sons, Stephen and Daniel (Toni), along with 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Lilian Court. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, daughter Marilyn, son Donald, parents Alvaro and Blanca Court (Piñeyro), and sister Carmen Robles. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and 2 oldest children at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Northbrook, IL in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Miriam's name to The Compassionate Friends, Northwest Suburban Chapter c/o Northwest Community Hospital, 800 West Central Road, Arlington Heights IL 60005-2392 Info. donnellanfuneral.com or (847) 675-1990
