PADMANABHA KONDAMURI Obituary

Padmanabha Rao Kondamuri, 77, of Orland Park, IL, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 while visiting the Sai Baba temple in the holy city of Shirdi (India). Beloved husband of Janaki Kondamuri, wife of 50 years; loving father of Shaun (Padmaja) Kondamuri and Saveen Kondamuri; cherished grandfather of Neil, Nathan, Anisha and Nikash; fond brother of Phanibhushan Rao (Lakshmi) Kondamuri. Rao completed his BS and law degrees in India followed by his MBA at Tulsa University. He settled in Chicago in 1962. He was very dedicated to his work at Precision Scientific Co. retiring as vice president. He proudly raised his two boys to become doctors and give back to society. During his retirement, Rao enjoyed a very close and loving relationship with his grandchildren, relatives and long time family friends. He became a well-respected mentor to many in the community. He had a close spiritual connection and was involved with many Hindu temples in the area. He followed politics closely and regretted not attending the inauguration of President Obama. He passionately fought for those who were less fortunate and under-represented in society. He was dedicated to fitness, rarely missing a workout at Omni in Schererville and later at the Orland Park Community Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by Prayer (Puja) service at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN followed by memorial luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for charities that will be posted at the funeral home. www.kishfuneralhome.net

To the Kondamuri family:
I have fond memories of your patriarch and visiting your home as a child. Your father was always kind, caring and concerned. I have not seen him in years but I can not help feeling a strong sense of personal loss. He had a substantial impact on me as well as everyone he touched. I am sorry for your loss. We will of course attend the memorial.

Janakiben, Drs Johnny and Billy and family. It has to be very emotional time for you. Somehow that drains the energy faster then anything.
Please take time to rest and restore your spirit and energy. There is nothing more that you can do - Rao, as we know him, was visiting God and is now in God's care. HE will do a good job for you.
Hope this message will comfort you and your family in some small way.
