Richard BENDA Obituary

R.R. BENDA passed away on February 8, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Ric showed true courage during his long battle with cancer. He is survived by his life partner and friend Gene Perchez. Ric earned his living as a prolific artist, gathering numerous prestigious awards for his exceptional, bold, creative talent and sense of style. His passion was painting. He leaves behind a legacy of collectors who will cherish his unique and flamboyant paintings and remember him accordingly. Ric was blessed to be born with a great talent, a wonderful sense of humor and a kind and generous heart. He used all these gifts prodigiously and lived a full and artistically productive life....just the way he wanted it to be. Donations: St. Judes Childens Hospital Services Private

My Uncle James(Fr.James A.Vanderpool),was a friend of Richard Benda's and collector of his work.

I have inherited 3 of Benda's paintings and several others are in the homes of relatives.

I had hoped to contact Mr. Benda one day to share memories of my uncle who must have known Richard while in Chicago and at his (my uncle's) Wisconsin home, "81", near East Troy, WI. I had also hoped to learn a little history regarding the art I have lived with and enjoyed for so many years.

I am sorry to hear of his death. As with the loss of my uncle, a creative and intelligent force has metamorphosed to another realm.

Ric's talent will certainly be missed. He took a flowered napkin of mine and painted a beautiful picture to match the flowers and colors which was hung in my home. May God love your wonderful talent in his heavenly home.
