I think I likely was in Mr. Boyle's first journalism class at New Trier in the fall of my junior year, 1954. I was also on the New Trier News staff. I remember with delight the hustle to get the paper together and proofed. I vividly recall one proofing calamity which sharpened our search for typos in subsequent editions. My sincere condolences to Robet Boyle's beloved family.

I never had the privilege of being one of Dr. Boyle's students at NTHS but I have heard many wonderful things about him. I was saddened to hear of his passing. May his name continue to be a blessing.

I was in Robert Boyles journalism class at New Trier from 1966 to 68, also on the staff of the New Trier News that he closely advised and have always been grateful for his teaching, through my career at the Chicago Daily News and DownBeat magazine, then as a freelancer, author, radio arts reporter and adjunct professor at New York University. He was quick-witted and sharp-eyed In the classroom and as an editorial overseer, allowed only a modest amount of goofing around in the newsroom and favored genuine work by talented students. having had an interest in journalism before I took his course, I became convinced by being part of it that newspapers offered the right work for me. He made journalistic writing and editing seem like serious fun, and that has turned out to be true. My eternal thanks, and respects.

Dr Boyle was my senior year English Literature teacher at New Trier in 1978. English was my worst subject but he brought out the best in me. I am forever grateful to have had the privilege of being in his class that year. My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace now Dr Boyle.
