ROBERT HASTERT Obituary
Robert J. "Bob" Hastert; Bob, 73, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Resident of Lemont and a lifetime in the area. Founder/Owner of the historic landmark restaurant White Fence Farm of Lemont since 1954. Bob spent his life managing this institution to feed people from all over. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. A longtime member and past President of the Lockport Rotary Club and host of many Rotary picnics. He loved the outdoors, collected antique cars, and was an avid boater and snowmobiler. Bob will be smiling as third and fourth generation family and great managers continue the family tradition of serving the "World's Greatest Chicken" at White Fence Farm. Loving father of Laura (Ken) Hastert-Gardner and Susan Hastert; cherished grandfather of Alexander, Zachary and Katie Marie Gardner; dear friend of Gediminas (Ineta) Markevicius and their son Mantas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Hastert, a son, Robbie, and his parents, Robert C. and Doris Hastert. Visitation Friday, 2 to 7 p.m., at the Anderson Memorial Chapel. Funeral Saturday, July 3, 2010, 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home chapel to St. Andrew Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Interment to follow Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. 815-886-2323. I've known "brother" [Sigma Phi Epsilon] Bob and Jeanne since our days at Bradley Univ. in the '50's. May God bless you and your family. You will be missed by many.

A lot of my friends worked here when we were kids, and they really loved the family. My prayers go out to the Hastert family.

iam so sorry of hearing about Bob (Junior )passing. What a great boss and friend. I worked for Bob many years, and knew the whole family well. What a great guuy, and he will be missed by all.

Thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this time. My Dad grew up with Bob's Dad. He owned Johnson Bros. Plumbing and Htg. Every Sunday as a little girl we went to the White Fence Farm after church. Bob or his Dad would always bring me an extra serving of the kidney bean salad, and even send some home if I wasn't there. They named me the "Kidney Bean Queen". Many fond memories. In fact, my daughter I came up for a visit early June, and the "White Fence Farm " is also a special place for my son and his family. So we all enjoyed a visit to the "Farm".
May you find comfort in knowing how special he was to so many people, and cherish the memories you have of him.

Junior as us bus boys called him gave me my first real job. I cherish alot of the memories at the farm. There truely are way too many good things to say about him. He will for sure be missed.

I have always considered Uncle Bob a pillar of grace in my life. May he rest in heaven with dear Aunt Jeanne and Robbie. And may Laura and Susan have peace and healing and good memories.

I have known the Hasterts since their poultry market days in Aurora, IL to their first restaurant the Harmony House in Aurora and their home on New York Street where they raised the chickens they used in the restaurant. My mother, Jackie Tasker, worked for Bob for many years. Bob, Bob Sr. and Doe, were incredible friends to our family, we will never forget any of them. Their gracious hearts, loving friendship and generous smiles.

My parents Shirley & Vernon Brougham worked at White Fence Farm for many years. I babysat for Bob's children when they were little. He was a wonderful person. May God give you comfort in this time of need.
