Sally Jean Weaver

Sally Jean Bodmer Weaver, age 80,  passed away on April 11, 2021.  She was a resident of Western Springs, IL and lived a long life of faith, service and creativity. She was married to her devoted husband, The Reverend David Weaver for 55 years. She is survived by daughter, Rachel Weaver Rivera (Guillermo), and children, Hadley and Guillermo, and daughter, Elizabeth Krolak (nee. Weaver) and husband, Patrick Krolak (deceased), and children Maxwell and Madeline. She was preceded in death by son David Weaver IV. She is also survived by her sister, Suzy Stout, husband Sam Stout (deceased) and niece Sarah, and nephew, Sam.

Sally graduated from Hinsdale Central and earned her BA in Education from the University of CO. She was known for her compassion for those in need. Throughout her life she was dedicated to teaching and mentoring. She worked as a Kindergarten teacher, volunteered as a mentor, was a foster mother to numerous infants, and cuddled high risk newborns at Michael Reese hospital. A talented artist, she painted and exhibited her art at local galleries. She enjoyed hosting holiday and caroling parties, and created a beautiful home with collected antiques and flea market treasures. Her home was frequently photographed and included in many decorating books and magazines over the years. 

She spent her summers at her cottage in Bay View, Michigan with her family, enjoying programs of music, lectures, and breathtaking sunsets. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Due to the pandemic, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Emmanuel Episcopal Church for the Memorial Outreach Fund dedicated to support programs for disadvantaged youth in the Chicagoland area, or a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Sally's compassion for those in need.
