Sandra Asher Obituary

Asher, Sandra Kay Nee Lovicott, with her family at her side, passed away on March 3, 2011 at the St John's Hospice just blocks from her home in London, England. Beloved wife of Ron; loving mother of Elizabeth and Natalie; devoted daughter of Frank (deceased) and Rita Lovicott; caring sister of Tip (Yvonne) Lovicott, Kathy (Mike) Zimmermann, Greg (Terri Quamme) Lovicott; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews; and giving friend. Sandy poured her heart and energy into her family, always supporting her children's passion for choir, dance, educational excellence, sports, healthy lifestyle, and international travel. Sandy was born in Madison, WI and raised in DeForest. She began her professional working career as a Junior's retail buyer for the Borman's clothing chain. In 1988 she married and moved to Illinois where she joined Jenny Craig, Inc. and quickly worked her way up to Regional Manager. In the years that followed, Sandy focused on supporting her husband's career and raising her beloved daughters. The family enjoyed living in Scottsdale AZ, Inverness IL, Carmel CA, Deer Park IL and in 2005 moved to London, England. Sandy cherished the unique opportunities offered by the school her daughters attend in London. Every Saturday afternoon, Sandy opened her "happy home" to the Capital Children's Choir which allowed her to enjoy the beautiful music created by the choristers, including her daughters. Sandy was always very giving of her time to others and her volunteerism was contagious. She was an active member of the St. John's Wood Women's Club and took on various leadership roles. Sandy's love for her family extended to her two loyal Bichon Frise. One of her greatest joys was coming together with friends and family to celebrate holidays and special occasions. Regardless of the situation, Sandy's smile could light up a room. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 820 Davis Street Suite 400, Evanston, IL 60201, www.cancer.org. Service will take place in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
