I just came across a Souvenier Album from the LLL 25th Anniversary Conferende in Chicago. I started looking up LLL founders, etc and saw that Vi had passed away in January. I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed meeting her when I was working as a fund raiser for LLL/Ga. She was a wonderful, bright, and dedicated woman and I am so fortunate to have met her. God Bless your family and the legacy left by your Mom/GrandMom! ~Kay Brown Ludwig, Buford, GA

Dear Lennon Family, My sister,Annie, told me about your Mom passing away. While reading your Mom's obit so many great memories came to me. Your Mom was such a big part of my life when I was younger, she was always so loving to me. There are so many special memories that I still think of today and share with friends. I loved being at your house with all the kids, I don't know how your Mom kept up with everything. Any time I eat a triscuit I think of your Mom ! I loved babysitting and since Beth and I were so much older, haha, (we were just young girls) we would be in charge. I learned alot at your house, and have always loved taking care of children. I was blessed with 3 of my own,one son and twin girls. Also the memories of ice skating in the backyard when your Dad made the ice rink,or when I slipped on your swingset while I was waiting outside for you to finish eating, and your Mom and Dad helped me,they put peroxide on the cut and made me feel better. I still have the scar along with another sweet memory. To all of you, your were blessed to have your Mom so long in your lives, I am sure she was a wonderful Grandmother too. Remember a part of her is in all of you, what a blessing to share. God bless all of you. Maxine Holda Riemschneider

On behalf of La Leche League GB we send our sincere condolances to all of Vi's family. It is thanks to our beloved Founding Mothers that women the world over have been empowered to breastfeed and nurture our babies in the way we felt was right for us. The legacy lives on. Thank you. Elizabeth and David: Bruce saw the obituary first and showed it to me. We felt her loss even tho we didn't know Vi. But it was thru you, Elizabeth, that La Leche League came into our lives and made us better parents than we would have been without it. For that we thank you and Vi. We hope this finds you well and we wish you strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Lennon family:
I was sad to learn about Vi's death and I wish I could have been closer to her and to all of you during her last months. I have wonderful memories of all the times she received me so graciously in her home and of the times she came to visit me in Mexico.
I have a deep gratitude for her vision not only in being a cofounder of La Leche League but for her efforts in trying to make the League a sound and vital organization.
My main thankfulness however is for her loyal friendship to me in spite of time and distance.
You are all in my heart and prayers.

Dear Beth and Lennon Family,

I was deeply saddened to read of your mother's passing. The beautiful article about her in the Tribune today made me smile just thinking about her. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. I'll always remember her kindness and guidance when I needed it most after our first son was born. I hope the memory of happy times together will bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Words cannot even begin to express our sorrow. Viola was an invaluable blessing for La Leche League. Throughout her work, she contributed to make La Leche League the wonderful organization that we are so proud of today. Her understanding of babies' nature and mothers' instincts has helped shed some light on the essence of breastfeeding. She is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

In Dec. 1968, a Champaign, IL. S. Baptist lady brought "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" and a meal to me and my nipple shield dependent firstborn. What a wonderful life changing event for us as a couple and our 3 extended nursing babes. I became an LLL leader under Jackie Sydnor in Minden, LA. where I had a wonderful natural childbirth and lead natural childbirth classes, LLL meetings-- Clark AFB Philippines 1971-1973, meeting with Dr. Robert Bradley and cooking with "Whole Foods for Whole Families". Now a daughter is in ER med. NP program, UIUC and nursing her firstborn! Your family has changed our family's lives in so many wonderful ways. Irreplaceable memories of LLL Int. in Chicago in @1975! Thank you.

Thank you, Lennon family, for all your mother did to pioneer the breastfeeding movement in the 1950's, encouraging my mother to breastfeed me, and then I became a LLL Leader and breastfed my four children, and now they are passing that on to THEIR children. God's blessings on your family during this time of loss. From: a 15 year Leader in California.
