I can't believe how lucky I was to have him as my father. He made me proud to have the Mathieu name. The number of people at his service who had not seen him in a decade or two, including a friend from high school, is testament to his loyalty. William F. Mathieu made this world better. (John and Michael look like him)
Thank you everyone who came and commented.

Laura & Mary...I'm so sorry about your Dad. It's hard losing a parent but you need to remember all the good times you had with him. My thoughts are with you both.

President Mathieu was a public servant in the truest sense of the term. He gave generously of his time to the residents of the Village of Homewood. He always took the time to listen to concerns. As a young high school reporter for a radio station, he graciously stayed after late-running village board meetings to provide fodder for my newscast. He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed.

Bill was a major force in starting and building my Real Estate Business which started in 1984. An example of Leadership, Contribution and Connection in his every action, he was one of the first people I spoke to when thinking about launching my career. Even before 1984 the entire Mathieu family has been in and out of my life for 30+ years and I am ever thankful for who they were to me, my community and my family. Bill you and your family are in my thoughts.

Bill Mathieu was a friend, and an integral part of my life in Homewood. He sold me and my late wife, Joline, the brand new house that was our family's Homewood home for 28 years.
Shortly thereafter, we hosted a campaign rally there for Bill during his successful candidacy for mayor; and Joline was one of his most outspoken supporters, overcoming the ill-advised objectors to his successful effort to bring concerts to Washington Park.
My condolences to Bill's family and his many friends. He will be missed.
