William C. Wrobel

Bill died Wednesday March 4th peacefully at his home of 52 years in Downers Grove. He was born at home in McKinley Park, May 10th, 1936. He graduated De La Salle Institute in 1954 and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Management from De Paul University. Bill's love of travel led him to a 40 year career in the Cruise and Hospitality Industry working in Sales Management for French Line, Sun Line, Celebrity Cruises and Marriott Corporation. Through his involvement in ASTA, and SKAL(President '81-82) he became a respected leader and mentor to many in his industry. During Bill's career and retirement he was actively involved in organizations that reflected his passion for travel, music, photography, fellowship, community service and advocacy. Knottingham Homeowners Association (President). Downers Grove Traffic Commissioner. Treasurer - Downers Grove WATCH Association. Election Judge and Precinct Captain. Active De La Salle Alumni. Our Lady of Peace - Collection Counter, Usher, Funeral Choir, Photographer - YTES. Active member of CATOE & JATOE - Chicago and Joliet Theater Organ Enthusiasts and the Chicago Accordion Club. Celebrating and documenting family traditions and milestones was important to Bill. He was often the catalyst for bringing friends and family together whether it be for a phone call, meal, family picnic or party simply to celebrate life. Bill was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. nee Jencen; Loving father of Christopher (Margaret), Cynthia (Nigel) Smith, Lisa (Gerald) Stark and Aileen (Joseph) Weigel; Dear Grandfather of Andrew (Hannah), Sean, Thomas, Patrick, Jacob, Samuel and Joseph Wrobel, Adam, Joshua and Sophia Stark; Great-grandfather of Jackson Reece Wrobel; Fond brother of the late Eugene (Gloria), also nieces and nephews and beloved companion Denise.
