BETTY HRUSKA Obituary

BETTY JEANNE HRUSKA 1927 - 2012 Betty Jeanne Hruska, 85, passed away December 24, 2012 in Chico, California, after a short illness. She was born to William and Marian Kostick on February 16, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Orphaned at 15, she moved frequently throughout her childhood. She graduated from high school in Minneapolis in 1944, but talked fondly of her years spent in Hollywood, California and her love for the film industry. Betty worked most of her life as a secretary in various capacities, with many years in the employ of the Minneapolis and St. Louis (M&St. L) Railroad. An avid reader, with a memory like an elephant, she was a news and political junkie, subscribing to several online newspapers as far away as Russia. A child of the depression era, she enjoyed dancing and singing and the music that came out of that time. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Hruska in 2005, after which she moved to Chico, California from Las Vegas, Nevada to be close to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Alan) Azevedo, and her four granddaughters; Amber (John) Carrion, Emily Azevedo, Chelsea Azevedo, and Geneva Azevedo. A private service was held by the family at the time of death. She was fond of the saying "No day is ever over if it creates a memory," and to that end her family says, "Thanks for the memories."
