BRUCE BOSWELL Obituary

BRUCE BOSWELL

Bruce Boswell, 65, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2009 at Enloe Hospital with his family at his side. He was born to Tex and Jessie Boswell on July 6, 1943 in San Francisco, California. When he was eight, the family moved to Santa Ana, California and he grew up in the home his father built in the middle of an orange grove. Bruce loved helping his Dad with the house, the grove, and the family bee hives. He always had an interest in and love of animals. While in grade school, he joined 4H and raised Nubian goats providing his family with cute pets and drinking milk.

Bruce attended the Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood and went on to work as a licensed diesel truck mechanic for Sterling Trucking Company in Southern California. In his free time he took flying lessons and earned his private plane pilot's license and instrument rating, as well as the airframe and engine rating for working on airplanes.

In 1979, Bruce moved to the Chico area to help his parents with their orchard out by the Sacramento River. He converted the original Bartlett pear orchard to an almond orchard which he managed and later owned for a number of years. While living at the orchard, Bruce raised two German Shepherd pups. He dearly loved those two dogs and others that followed; they were family to him. Bruce purchased a Twin Comanche airplane which he flew locally as well as on longer trips. He enjoyed and made friends in the Chico Air Geeks group. He was also an extraordinary craftsman who built and flew remote-controlled model airplanes.

In 1999, Bruce and his dogs moved to Magalia where he appreciated the small community and the friends he made. And on his back deck there was always a lively scene, as he provided seeds and peanuts for a variety of birds and wildlife.

Bruce is survived by Brian C. Boswell and wife Gail, Lisa Boswell Sorensen and husband Marc, and Dorothy E. Boswell all of Chico, and by Roger B. Boswell and wife Annelle of Newcastle, California.

The family will hold private services.
