Caleb Jacobs Obituary

CALEB MATTHEW JACOBS

Caleb Matthew Jacobs was born on October 17, 1987 to Scott and Sheri. He entered the Kingdom of Heaven on May 8, 2008. He was twenty years old. During his life he enjoyed learning, movies, X-box, steak dinners, skateboarding, music, cars, fireworks, and everything that was good or fun. He graduated from Chico High School in 2006 and was accepted at several Universities and selected Chico State. Caleb had a genuine heart of gold. Everyone he touched will always remember him.

Over the past several years prescription drugs replaced a bright future with an empty addiction. His family and friends are now going through a devastation that can't be verbalized. Please know that Caleb didn't expect this would ever happen to him and that he never intended to break so many hearts. Please let this loss be a lesson learned and spread the word about Caleb and his tragically shortened life. His family is all praying that this will keep Caleb's memory alive and growing from here forward and that his death will not be a meaningless loss.

Caleb is survived by Scott and Jennifer Jacobs, Tom and Sheri Marshall, his sister, Ashley and her new husband, Dan, and his three brothers, Daniel, Mark, and Luke. Other survivors include his grandmothers, numerous aunts and uncles, lots of cousins, an extended step family, a very close family friend, and finally Buffy.

A memorial Web Site can be found at www.nbcfh.com, or if you'd like to contact his Dad, e-mail him at [email protected].

Thank you for sharing your devastating loss with us all. I too suffered from the addiction of prescription drugs for many years. I was a prisoner to them. The disease of addiction did not care who's heart I broke or who cared and loved me. I'm so sorry that Caleb lost his battle with this horrible disease. You will no doubt help countless others' from your selfless gift to share Caleb with us all. My prayers are with you.

I read this obituary today but did not know your son. I am sorry for your loss. I was in Caleb's shoes in from 93' to 95' addicted to drugs an alcohol and overdosed on drugs. I am lucky to be alive and I am drug free for 12yrs now. I hope Caleb's obituary teaches kids that drugs can kill you and there is help out there.

Thank you for the amazing courage of sharing this tragedy. The honesty of how our young precious children can be lost to the prescription drugs that are in so many homes. I have made copies of your message. I will show it to my family and loved ones as well as at work.
Your family will be in my prayers.
Thank you again, this could indeed save a life.

While I did not know Caleb, my family has suffered from addiction problems since I was a small child. I wish the best thoughts I can to the family and loved ones. I hope if others read this it may help them recognize if their children may be at risk. For every addict there are 8 people negatively affected.
