CHRISTOPHER J. PARKER Christopher J. Parker passed away at his home in Chico, CA on Sept 16, 2012, from ALS (Lou Gehrig's) disease. He was born Sept 2, 1955 in Chico to Edward and Shirley Parker. The family lived in Chico, Medford, OR and Bakersfield, CA, and settled in Redding, CA. Chris earned his BA and Masters in Psychology from CSU, Chico. He married Jean Lambert on May 19, 1990 in Willows, CA. Chris served the community in many ways with his work in the counseling field. These included Family Services-Teen Parenting Program; Catholic Social Services-Family Therapy and Youth For Change-Adolescent Residential Treatment Facility Therapist. Chris found his niche when he became trained as an Imago Relationship counselor. Over the years he helped many couples through difficult times with his caring, compassionate way. Chris loved camping with his family at Fort Bragg, weekends relaxing in the mountains at Ski Hi, NASCAR, the 49ers and his deck overlooking the backyard. He is survived by wife, Jean and daughters, Kimberly and Allison, all of Chico; mother, Shirley Parker of Redding, CA; brothers, Michael (Mary Pat) Parker of Salem, OR, Donald (Kathy) Parker of Bend, OR; sister, Kathryn (Steve) Heaton of Clovis, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Edward. The family invites you to celebrate Chris' life at an open house on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. at the family home in Chico.
