DANIEL COUPE' Obituary

DANIEL WILLIAM

(BILL) COUPE'

Father, Husband, Cowboy, Rancher, Farmer, Friend

March 14, 1917 - February 2,2019

Bill Coupe' was born in a log cabin in East Nicholas, CA to Florence Lamb Coupe' and Daniel Nicholas Coupe'. Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home in Forest Ranch, ending a wonderful life of 92 years. He was brother to Margaret Stetson (Leo), Jean Bradovich (Al), and Art Coupe' (Betty). He was farther of Bruce Coupe' (Rosa), and Cathy Lynch (Jim).

He was grandfather to Arturo Coupe' (Kendra), Michael Lynch (Gayle), Colleen Berhens (Jeff), Douglas Lynch (Tonja) and Javier Coupe'. He was great-grandfather to Vance and Mariah Lynch, Brad, Kevin and Nicholas Coupe', Katja and Adin Lynch, Matt and Heather Killion. Bill also leaves eight nieces and nephews.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sally Canfield Coupe', and her children, Tanny, Laurie, Jan, Glen (Stacy) Johnson and their sons, Sam, Joe and Luke and the mother of their children, Evelyn Barmby Coupe' and Alice's son, Jerry (Debbie Briggs and their children, Ian and Amanda. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Alice Briggs.

Bill was a true Renaissance Man. He was a master of every trade he learned. He ran a registered Beef Ranch in the Wilton, CA area for many years, working closely at the Agricultural School at UC Davis in the Beef Division. Bill and his family moved to Chico in 1958 when he was hired as the Head Farmer at the Chico State College Farm on Hegan Road. He later became the CSC Housing Manager and retired from CSUC in 198(?).

Bill, however, had many talents that his friends and family enjoyed and appreciated. He was an accomplished Mechanic, Blacksmith, Welder, Carpenter, Electrician, and Plumber to name a few. He built his own house and outbuildings on his 5 acre piece of heaven in Forest Ranch and he did everything himself. He was also an artist and writer and he was a humorist.

It was these skills and characteristics that allowed Bill to share himself with those he loved most, his family and close friends. His skills and love of the outdoors, for years, brought many hours of enjoyment and memories that his children and grandchildren will have forever of camping in the outdoors. Not only were all things well organized, but the games, and activities kept everyone entertained. When Bill and his brother, Art got together you knew it was going to be a great time. If you didn't enjoy laughing, you shouldn't have been there.

But Bill also shared himself with others. His back country motorcycle trips were epic. The stories and the experiences again are embedded in the memories of friends and family. There was also his love of 4 wheeling introduced to him and shared by his son, Bruce. Bill, not satisfied to just go along, he and his son, Bruce built one of the finest 4 wheeling jeeps, for the Sierra Trek.

With all this said, Bill was a humble man. He never bragged and never put a man down. He enjoyed life and he wanted everyone around him to do the same. Bill left the world a better place than he found it and he will be greatly missed by all those he had shared his time here with.

A Rosary will be held Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church on Lassen Avenue. It will be followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Funeral Mass. Father, Simon Towmey will be the mass celebrant. Following the Mass, a gathering to celebrate Bill's life for his family and friends will be at the Our Divine Savior Parish Hall.

A private interment will be held later at the Forest Ranch Cemetery.

Condolences may be made online BrusieFH.com. Rather than flowers, it was Bill's wishes that a donation be made to Handy Riders or Chico State College Farm Scholorship Fund, c/o Brusie Funeral Home.
