Dorothy Wall Obituary
Dorothy Elizabeth Wall went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2010 at the age of 93, following surgery from a fall at home. Born in Sacramento, CA on June 8, 1917, Dorothy was the eldest of five children of Clarke and Ivy Camper of Chico, CA. She attended local schools, graduating from Chico High in 1935. She worked in the Circulation Department of the Chico Enterprise Record and briefly attended the University of California in Berkeley.
In 1937, Mathilda Wall introduced her to her brother, Jacob Wall (Jake). They married September 13, 1939. The first year they lived in Los Angeles, CA where Jake was enrolled in the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. Upon completion of studies, they returned to Chico. Except for Jacob's service in the Army during World War II, they were lifelong residents of Chico.
Dorothy was kind, caring and gentle with a wonderful love for her family. Dorothy and her husband, Jake were devout Christians and were members of the Evangelical Free Church of Chico for 45 years. She loved reading her Bible, praying and attending services.
Dorothy developed close friendships with fellow church members and received an abundance of assistance from loving church friends. She thanked God daily for their concern and Christian love. Her daughter, Kathe came to live with her a year ago and gave her a valuable gift - the ability to remain in her own home. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents; her brother, Donald Camper; her sister, Fern Newcombe and granddaughter, Tamara Wall.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathe Leasure of Chico; son, Stanley Wall of Wilsonville, Oregon; granddaughter, Carri Wall and great-granddaughter, Amelia Wall, of Portland, as well as her brothers, Glenn Camper of Clackamus, Oregon and H. W. Bill Camper of Oroville.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 2 p.m. Services are being held at the Evangelical Free Church of Chico, 1193 Filbert Ave., Chico, CA.
Those wishing to do so may make a contribution in Dorothy's memory, c/o the Evangelical Free Church of Chico.
