Glenn Cosby Obituary

GLENN M. COSBY Glenn M. Cosby, age 78 passed away peacefully Monday, September 24th, 2018 at 6:00 PM surrounded by his wife Barbara and family. From birth on May 24th, 1940 to Jewell Cosby and Beatrice (Pebble) Carr in Miller-ville, AL, Glenn was destined to embody a wonderful life of happiness. He began his successful journey and passion for hard work at the young age of 16 in Bemiston, AL, where his first employment was at Piggly Wiggly. By age 17 he moved with his family to Gardena, Ca where he went on to graduate High School. At age 19 he pursued his entrepre-neurial skills and began managing grocery stores, while attending El Camino College where he obtained his B.S. in Business. Welcoming his first daughter (Cathy) in '63, then twin daughters in '64 (Cassie and Cindy). Glenn became a fun-loving charismatic father. Glenn moved his family to Chico, Ca in 1972 going on to purchase his first store Super Shopper. Glenn went on to become a multiple-business owner with stores such as Cosby's Market (currently Lakeside) where he was known by so many as Mr. C! Glenn was an amazing man of servitude to the community; To know him was to love him because he always loved you back! He was a man of faith and lived a life of joy and selflessness spreading his love across his immediate and extended family always letting that love pour over into his friends, employees, frequent patrons of his stores, and random strangers on the street alike wherever he could. Glenn was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He married in 2000 to Barbara where they were sealed in the Temple, joined together for time and all eternity. Their marriage has always embodied the same love and benevolent spirit Glenn always possessed. Many may remember Glenn for his GIANT heart, kind spirit, his Harley "Ruby", and his love for his favorite NFL team Oakland Raiders. Left to honor Glenn and remember his bountiful love is his beloved wife of 18 yrs. Barbara; Daughters: Cindy Cosby, Cassie (James) Morgan, Denise (Tony) Bruschi; Grandchildren: Ronny (Sioubon) Norton, Yvonne Hemstalk, Ashley (Frankie) Coffee, Randy (Shawna) Hadwick, Shyann Waters, James (Shannon) Martin, Jeffrey (Carrie) Martin, Sandy Furmidge, Bobby Furmidge, Allie Bruschi; 21 Great Grandchildren, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and loving friends. These precious memories will outlast the pain of grief; Glenn will be alive in our hearts forever as a bright and shining light. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2390 Monte Vista Ave, Oroville, Ca. Burial to follow at Wyandotte Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Glenn's name to the Dementia Society of America.

"A Giant of a Man" has fallen, but will live in our hearts forever! If there is one thing we have learned over the years, it is that love & Precious Memories do outlast the pain of grief! Glenn was an amazing guy! He has had a most successful Journey in life & married to his wonderful wife, Barbara. The two of them had a very loving & caring life! He was sooo proud of his daughters & grandchildren! To know him was to love him, because he loved you back. He always had sooo many friends & loved his family & Extended Family. He traveled across the country to visit them, often.
I grew up with this guy! You talk about a fun loving childhood. . .we had it! When I say "we" I am talking about one big Happy Extended Family of fun loving people! We all grew up in a wonderful neighborhood there in Bemiston, AL on the outskirts of Talladega, AL. A perfect community to grow up in. Almost all of our extended family lived there. All of us kids had plenty of fun things to do. Even had movies on Friday nights! Had it all with the exception of Happy Days with "The Fonz"!
Go, Glenn, & receive your many rewards from on High! The Pearly Gates are open!

Love & Prayers!

May you be blessed by the memories you share all together and pass on to the next generations. It is a HARD part of life to loose those that have instilled so much into us. May you know our God brings comfort and our prayers will continue for you all in the next few weeks. Our condolences, Frank and Carla Koons
