HELEN DIANA ELLIS Helen "Diana" Ellis passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021 at her Chico home while sleeping, with Granddaughter, Heather Black, at her side and her daughters close by. She was born in Oakland, California on June 20, 1931 to Esther Patch Camper and Allison Wesley Camper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Neal Ellis, adopted son, Michael March, her parents and two brothers, Allison Camper, Jr. and Myron Camper, and her later-in-life companion, Robert Rolfs. She is survived by her three daughters, Joanne Black, Janet Ellis (Roy), and Kathy Clark, daughter-in-law, Gina VanBogart-March, grandchildren Nicole Weddig (Greg), Heather Black, Valerie Hanley (Dylan), Steven Clark (Melissa), Kathleen Valentine (Phil), Macenn March, and Race March; and great-grandchildren Broc Mitchell, Braden Mitchell, Eleanor Weddig, Eric Garcia, Elora Clark, Ronan Hanley, and Raven Hanley. The Orland/Capay area was home for Diana for 80 years. Her family moved to Capay when she was 5 years old and she moved to Chico to be closer to her daughter when she was 85 years old and could no longer manage life in the country by herself. She was a giving nurturing woman, affectionately called "Auntie" by the nieces and nephews that she took in as need arose. Diana was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a 4-H leader for close to 20 years, teaching sewing. She sewed her own clothes, clothes for the family and custom sewing for individuals. She was an amazing woman with an abundance of love, wisdom, and compassion to share. Under the direction of Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary a Chapel service will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 9AM at the Mortuary, followed by Graveside at Masonic Cemetery.
