LLOYD LIEBES JR. Chico fine arts photographer Lloyd Liebes Jr. died peacefully at home in his Amber Grove neighborhood on January 23, 2017, at the age of 86. Lloyd moved to Chico from the Bay Area a decade ago with his wife Angela Risdon. His many atmospheric renderings of flowers, a technique he created in Chico, hang in many local businesses. Lloyd loved Chico and never met a stranger. He was active in Chico's Unitarian Universalist Church as well as in the local arts community. Before moving to Chico Lloyd was a well-known photographer of celebrities, rock stars, and other luminaries. He also had his own modeling agency and for a time worked in his family's business, H. Liebes & Company, an iconic San Francisco department store established in 1864. Lloyd is survived by his wife Angela Risdon of Chico, CA., his sister Ruth Shavel, his former wife Enes Rice, his children Joanne Liebes-Carruth, Richard Liebes and Ruth Harrold, all of the Bay Area, and 8 grandchildren, Charles, David, Jamie, Dan, Gina, Elle, Austin, and Jordon and 6 great -grandchildren. His oldest son Lloyd III preceded him in death. Lloyd's memorial will be at 1 pm on Saturday, February 18, at the Universalist Unitarian Fellowship, located at 1289 Filbert Ave, Chico.
