Lori Powers

LORI POWERS Laura (Lori) Powers, previous owner of Upper Crust Bakery and long-time resident of Chico, died peacefully at home on December 26th, 2022, after a short illness. She was lovingly cared for by her life partner of over 30 years, Diane Richard, with support from close family members. Lori was raised in Oroville. She and her siblings, Sonnie (Kirk) and Bill, enjoyed a tight-knit bond, with many adventures camping, enjoying the outdoors and playing sport. They were raised to be "tennis shoe kids", and that they were! It was an upbringing filled with the best of small-town living. AAs an adult, Lori was drawn to the joys of cycling. Fresh air, personal challenge, adventure and exploration all shared in the wonderful camaraderie of good friends. Early morning walks were a big part of her daily life. Travel was another pleasureincluding to Europe to hike with friends in the Dolomites and Alps, to Myanmar and India with Sonnie, and several trips to New Zealand. In Lori's working life she was a proud owner of the Upper Crust Bakery for 26 years. Many patrons will remember her as the friendly, welcoming face behind the counter. She was humbled by dedicated employees and customers alike, and was thrilled to see the enduring relationships established at the Upper Crust. It was a wonderful time in her life. After work life, Lori renewed focus on the people near and most dear to her, particularly her partner Diane. They truly knew the depth to which one might love and be loved. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favourite charity and just share a smile with a stranger, as Lori would have! A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 15th, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Lakeside Pavilion in Chico.
