MARSHALL JOHN CLEWETT

Long time Butte Co. resident, Marshall John Clewett, age 83 passed away Sept. 29, 2007, in Orlando Fla. He was born April 12, 1924 in Glendale, Calif. to Howard and Ina Clewett.

In early 1930 his family moved to Paradise, Calif. He attended Paradise Elementary School, Chico High School and Chico State. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He married his childhood sweetheart, Modina Booth on Oct. 25, 1942, just prior to being sent to England, then Germany. Upon discharge, they lived in Chico, moving to Paradise to work for Hodgkins Electric. In 1961, they moved to Westwood Calif. and formed his own business, M&M Appliance Sales & Service. In 1969, he sold the business and worked in Vietnam for Pacific Architects & Engineers, maintaining electrical & refrigeration equipment at military installations. He returned to the U.S. in 1971, and worked as Branch Manager for Westinghouse Electric, retiring 17 yrs. later in Concord, Calif. He & his wife moved to Oroville, Calif. in 1988 and then to Orlando, Fla. in June 2003.

Mr. Clewett is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs., Modina; son John Clewett, Stockholm, Sweden; two daughters, Kathleen Ledbetter of Parker, Colo.; Mary Clewett, Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Lisa West, Chico; Emily Clewett, David Clewett, Stockholm, Sweden; and Jennifer Leon, Seattle, Wash.; one great-granddaughter, Alexandria West.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 20, 2007 in Orlando, Fla. Interment will be in Paradise Cemetery, Paradise, Calif.
