Martha Watson Obituary

MARTHA POLLY PETERS WATSON Martha "Polly" Watson passed away peacefully in Chico on March 19, after a period of failing health. She is survived by her husband David Smith of Chico; a brother, Dr. John Peters of Davis, and a niece, Ms. Elsie Peters. She was preceded in death by parents Jerome D and Julia Dorn Peters, and brother Jerome "Jady" Peters, all of Chico. Polly was born at Enloe Hospital on February 24, 1943. She attended Chico schools, and was a 1960 CHS graduate. After earning a bachelor's degree from CSUSF and a masters degree from Antioch College of Ohio, Polly had a thrity-plus year career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. After returning to Chico and a limited practice in the early 2000's, Polly also hosted a regular HIV/AIDS social support group. She continued her counseling work via tele-health until late 2021. Those who read her FB postings know that Polly was passionate about progressive and animal rights causes. In keeping with her wishes, any donations of remembrance may be given to the animal rights cause or one's choice. Goodbye, Dear Polly-You are loved and I miss you.
