God bless Mary and her family! I knew her as our librarian while I was a student at Orland High. She was so incredibly kind. I cherish my memories of her as one of the most courageous Christians I have encountered. She reached out to a student in need even when it presented difficult challenges to her own personal and professional well-being. I am eternally indebted to her, as I owe my very salvation, in part, to her loving leadership.

My name is Joan Yates (formerly Joan Kirstine). I worked for Mary at Country Villa in Portola Valley, Ca. So very sad to hear of Mary's passing. I have not seen Mary for many years but have always held a very fond memory of her as a lovely and caring person. We stayed in touch for quite a few years but somehow lost touch in more recent years. I used to cut Cheryl's hair. What a joy she was! It was so lovely to see the love in Mary's heart for her niece, Cheryl.
Rest in Peace Mary. You were cherished.
