Nettie Lou Flanagan

1928 - 2013

NETTIE LOU (BOWLES) FLANAGAN Nettie Lou (Bowles) Flanagan passed away on June 8th after a bout with cancer. She was born on her family's ranch north-west of Artois on June 16, 1928. Her beloved parents were Howard H. and Mary Margaret Bowles. Nettie attended Artois Grammar School, Willows (then Glenn County) High School, and Heald's Business College in Sacramento. After completing her studies at Heald's, she returned to Willows and was employed by Clyde H. Larimer in the Glenn County District Attorney's office. On July 5, 1948 Nettie married her high school sweetheart, William J. (Bill) Flanagan. Bill and Nettie both enjoyed the outdoor life, hunting in their little jeep (when they got too old to walk), camping, first, In their tent, then their travel trailer, and then in their cabin at Ski Hi. Teaching their sons to hunt, fish, camp and cook was a great joy. Nettie was an active member in the Willows Junior Women's Club, a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, and a member of the Rainbow Girls, later serving on the Rainbow Board, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marshall Chapter #86 In Willows. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; two sons, Michael (Jolene) and Robert (Marcelle); five grandchildren, Angela Flanagan, Sue Anne Kelly (Jeramy), Robert Flanagan, Thomas Flanagan, and Jennifer Breuss Ocon (Jesse). One brother, Howard (Virginia) Bowles; five great grandchildren, Jeffery Flanagan, Kaylee Jackson, Cody Jackson, Delainey Kelly, and Mason Kelly. Viewing will be held on Friday, June 14th at Sweet's Mortuary in Willows at 10:00 am. Immediately following at 11:30 am burial will take place at Willows Masonic Cemetery. Pastor Greg Notla presiding.
