Roy Charlton Obituary

A memorial service will be held for, Roy K. Charlton, 73, of Cohasset, on Friday, February 20, 2004, 11 a.m. at The Church on the Esplanade (SBC). Roy passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at a local hospital. He was born on July 3, 1930 in Delano, Calif. to Arthur and Elizabeth Charlton. Roy was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Delano at the age of 14. In 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954. He married Dorothy Overholtzer on July 6, 1955 in Reno, Nev., and they have lived in Cohasset for the past 41 years. Roy worked as a Station Mechanic at PG&E for 32 years. He loved his family, R.V.ing, and reading. Roy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Charlton of Cohasset; three sons, Rory of Sacramento, Scott and his wife, Jennifer of Chico, and Rick and his wife, Robyn of Cohasset; three sisters, Bennideen Sanders of Modesto, Calif., Juanita Kattenhorn of Shaster, Calif., and Joyce Melton of Turlock, Calif.; four granddaughters and one grandson. At a later date, inurnment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cohasset. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church on the Esplanade in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
