Ruby Brown Quigley VanGorkom

1928 - 2018

RUBY BROWN QUIGLEY VAN GORKOM Ruby entered gently into rest, going home to be with her Lord Jesus, June 30, 2018, with family and friends at her side. Born in South Bend, Indiana October 29, 1928 to Harrison and Jessie Brown, Ruby was the youngest of 10. She grew up in Lakeville, graduating in 1947. She married Gene Quigley that December. Ruby is survived by her three daughters: Karen Todd of Oroville, CA, Kathy Crawford of Hemet, CA, and Karol Davis of Oroville. She has two granddaughters, Katie Dulaney and Jami Dunning, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great grand children, all of Hemet, CA. Ruby dedicated her life to being a master homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for family and friends. Later in life Ruby became a nanny in the home of Steve and Melanie Howell, devoting her exceptional skills with children to their sons, Aaron and Ethan. She loved them dearly and was exceptionally proud of them and the fine young men they have become. Ruby found love again with Paul Van Gorkom and they were married from 2001 until his passing in 2013. They loved going on adventures together, traveling to visit family and friends, listening to music, doing Bible study, attending church, watching movies, and enjoying each other's friendship. Ruby was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oroville, where she served wherever she could. She especially loved to help in the kitchen, and worked many years in the nursery with babies and toddlers. Ruby was loved by all who knew her. Her kindness and great smile will be deeply missed. Memorial services will be held July 14, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church 2377 Foothill Blvd in Oroville.
