Steven F. Gibson

1951 - 2022

STEVEN F. GIBSON On December 26, 2022, Steven F Gibson, age 71, left this earth and continued on with his journey. Steve attended Chico schools and spent his winters skiing at Mt. Lassen and summers salmon fishing in Trinidad, CA. He began his 50 year farming career raising fresh vegetables on his family's Sacramento Avenue property. He was well known for his sweet corn and watermelons. He always said he was happiest driving his tractor. In 1994 he married Chris Nottelmann from Chico. Steve and Chris had many fun and challenging adventures farming almonds and walnuts on Meridian Road, scuba diving and traveling. Steve had a gift for cooking, canning and barbecuing. He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Jay O and Mary Gibson, his brother, Jay A Gibson and his nephew David Barkowski. He is survived by his wife, Chris, his sister and brother-in-law Anne Gibson Criss and Sheldon Criss of Callahan, CA, sister Nell Quist of Vancouver, WA, nephews Sagar and Briar Fowler, Paul Barkowski and Matthew Quist, and nieces Lauryl Boyum (Andy) and Emily Quist. The family would like to thank Maria and David Tolentino, Daniel Carreto of Live Oak and Dan Morris of Chico for their love, kindness and support to Steve and Chris, as well as the rest of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Steve and Chris's Ranch on Meridian Road Saturday, January, 14, 2023 at 11 am. A luncheon will follow. Donations can be made in Steve's name to the "Buddy's Little Bit of Help Fund" in care of North Valley Community Foundation.
