Linda Mae Mulay
Westerville - Linda Mae Mulay passed peacefully at home on Feb. 5, 2021. Linda was born April 21, 1947, in Pueblo, Colo., to Charles and Erma (Nitz) Roark. She was the oldest of four children. She was known to all as the ultimate, well-rounded Renaissance Woman. Linda loved to learn and explore new things. As a lifelong intellectual, she obtained a degree in kinesiology and physical education from Armstrong State University in Savannah, Ga., and went on to teach physical education, Spanish, and eventually science courses, including high school chemistry. She served her country as a faithful military wife, traveling around the world and across the United States. Linda met and affected so many wonderful people along the way. Linda enjoyed throwing parties with the ladies from the Army base in Savannah, Ga. She enjoyed playing cards from childhood with her grandparents, through card club this year, learning new card games all the time. Once she retired from teaching, she began painting and became an avid photographer, spending time loving nature, especially birds. Linda's most proud accomplishment in life was her children. She dedicated her life to her children and made sure each one knew how special they were to her. She had a love of life that shined through her every day. Her family will miss hearing her voice, sound advice, and her excitement when talking about the newest bird she photographed or funny stories about animals she loved. She is survived by her children, Kimberly (Tommy) Oliver, Ashley (Matt) Collins, and Tyler Mulay; grandchildren, John Thomas and Carson Oliver, Alice and Aspen Mulay; sisters, Catherine Dees and Gracie Russell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Linda was preceded in death by her son, Michael Duane Barnett; her mother, Erma Heienickle; and brother, Dennis Roark. Please join the family this June 27, 2021, in Panama City Beach to celebrate Linda's amazing life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Friends of Blue Springs State Park fund.
