Mark Thalhamer Obituary

Mark Wayne Thalhamer, 62, passed away Nov. 12, 2020. Survived by his wife, Jacqui; parents; Everett and Edna Thalhamer; son, Anthony Mark (Cassie Aragon) Thalhamer; bro-ther, Kurt Thalhamer; sister, Lori (Dave) Dohse; and niece, Kira Dohse from Chandler Arizona; stepsons, John (Monica) Shoffeitt, Tim (Kristal) Shoffeitt; stepdaughters, Janette (Danny) Stein-brugger, Kelly (Bob) Nava; nine grandchildren; and dogs, Brandi and Luci. Preceded in death by son, Craig James Thalhamer (his death was Mark's greatest sorrow in life) and faithful dog, Jordie. Mark was born in Pueblo on July 17, 1958. He attended East High school, class of 1976. He loved tennis and was ranked number 1 at East High. He became a Pueblo Police Officer in 1981 and served in virtually every division of the department including Patrol, Investigations, Gang Unit, Narcotics, DEA regional task force, Active Felon Enforcement, and SWAT. His interest and dedication toward law enforcement was focused upon helping people on the streets and he was recognized throughout the community as a great and compassionate officer dedicated to his community and its people. In 2002, he married the love of his life, Jacqui. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, and exploring. He loved his family deeply. His two sons, Tony and Craig, were his greatest joys. Mark retired in 2015. In retirement, he enjoyed making custom designed laser-cut decorative art works. Many of his works are displayed in law enforcement facilities and homes throughout the world. He will be remembered by his legion of friends and admirers. He was a local hero, a loving family man and a great friend who will be terribly missed. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A private memorial service will be livestreamed at a later date on his obituary page at www.MontgomerySteward.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's name may be made to PAWS for Life, www.pawspueblo.org. and to First United Methodist Church of Pueblo, www.firstumcpueblo.org.

My deepest sympathies for you and your family. Though Mark and I had only met one time over fifty years ago in Pueblo...I knew there was a connection. My stepfather Gerald Thalhamer was the middle brother to Everett.
Having thought of Mark many times, I failed to reach out and connect after so many years...definitely my loss!
My thoughts and prayers be with you...always!!

My deepest condolences to the entire Thalhamer family. I'm really sorry to hear about Mark's passing. It made me remember how we were all part of a special tennis era in the 70's and 80's. Prayers, peace and comfort to you all. Jean Gardner

I remember playing tennis with Mark as we grew up. Mark - and the whole Thalhamer family - exemplified what made Pueblo a great tennis town and a good place to grow up. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

With a heavy heart I pen this note. My deepest heart-felt sympathy goes out to the Thalhamer family during this very difficult time. GOD will be welcoming you with open arms my friend.
I remember our early tennis days pre-high school and then during high school. Mark was always a gentleman and conducted himself with a touch of class. Our paths crossed seldom once our East High School days ended and I had moved away......but occasionally during return visits to town when our paths crossed it was like we had never missed a beat. That is a "life time friend" indeed. Rest in peace Mark, rest.......

I am beyond devastated to hear of Marks passing. We graduated high school together but as distant friends. It wasn't until 2013 that our paths crossed again. We had a special friendship and shared many memories, laughs and a few tears. He was one of the nicest and kindest men I have known. My heart goes out to you Jacque and all of the family. Thoughts and prayers are with you. I will see you again one day my friend.

Mark and I started at the Pueblo Police Department on the same day in 1981 so I have known him all these years. He was a very good officer and more importantly a very kind man. He was always smiling and although there were times when I would not see him for months on end when I did he would always stop and talk and we would laugh about life. To say his death was a shock is an understatement and a great loss for everyone who knew him. To Jacqui and family I am so very honored I knew him and so very sorry for all of us losing him.
