Charles Sommers Obituary
Chillicothe - Charles E. Sommers, 90, of Londonderry, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
He was born October 27, 1927 in Ross County to the late George Sr. and Beulah (McDaniel) Sommers. On June 2, 1951 he married the former Helen Patty Ablin who preceded him in death July 30, 1998.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty (Litter) Sommers and daughter and companion, Susan and Michael (Cottrill) Sommers, both of Londonderry; grandchildren, Shawn and Stacy Sommers, Dustin (Jenny) Cottrill and step grandchildren, Joshua (Megan),
Patrick (fiancé Morgan) Currier; great-grandchildren, Charlie Summer James Cottrill, Gavin and Grahm Currier. Charlie has several cherished nieces and nephews and one very special sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bob Smith, of Gulport, MS. He was predeceased not only by his parents and wife, but by his first son, Chuck and his fishing buddy brother, George.
The family would like to thank Becky Mitovich for her friendship and kindness and the staff at Westmoreland Place.
Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S Navy during World War II. He was a brick mason by trade and a member of local 45 before becoming a union masonry contractor at the Mead Corp. Charlie had a deep and never-ending love for his family, farming, fishing, traveling. He was a member of Londonderry United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 205 North St., Lucasville, OH 45648.

Charlie was a such a dear sweet Man. I will miss him. I was his Caregiver / Housekeeper for a year when I worked for Home Helpers as an Aide. Loved all our Conversations Charlie and I had about what was going on in and around Londonderry. May God grant his family Peace and Comfort during this sad time. Vaya con Dios...Go with God Charlie .
