James Harral Obituary

CIRCLEVILLE: James "Jim" M. Harral, 64, of Circleville, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born July 21, 1945 in Circleville, the son of the late Edgar A. and Minnie Kathryn (Courtright) Harral. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Harral.
Jim graduated from Logan Elm High School and The Ohio State University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Jim was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, a member of Logan Elm Lodge #624 F&AM, Aladdin Shrine and served as a Pickaway Twp. Trustee for 25 years. A fourth generation farmer, Jim continued to maintain the family farm and was very involved in his community. He had a passion for flying helicopters and worked as a crop duster for many years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jim coached his sons in Little League and started a 4-H group when they were young.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jean (Ward) Harral; sons, Jason (Jennifer) Harral of Springfield and Jacob "Jake" (Mary) Harral of Brownsburg, IN; and grandsons, Mitchell Steven Harral and Caleb Ward Harral.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2010 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Osmundson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery where military honors will be provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Salem UMC, 8490 Hayesville Rd., Kingston, OH 45644.
