June Elaine Mallow Woods

CHILLICOTHE: June Elaine Mallow Woods, 81, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on June 28, 2011, to spend eternity with her Savior, loved ones and friends.

She was born on May 25, 1930, the daughter of Dorothy and step-father Jack Chenault. United in marriage on July 24, 1949, to her former husband, Jack V. Woods, Sr. From this union are their children, William Eugene Woods, Tammy (Richard) Depugh, of Cincinnati, Jaclynn Sue Peters, Jack V. (Helen) Woods, Jr., Kevin Jay (Loralee) Woods, Jody Kay Woods, all of Chillicothe; and step-son, Col. Jon Pricer (Diane) Woods, of Westerville; step-brother, John (Mildred) Chenault, of Mesa, AZ. June was given 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was born an only child but was surrounded by a large family of brothers and sisters in Christ. June was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, the Disciples Sunday School Class, the American Legion, Post 62 Ladies Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens.

June was a certified Nursing Assistant. She showed how much she loved being a caregiver in many homes, the Chestnut Street Hospital and the Veterans Hospital. Moving to Florida, June worked at the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in St. Petersburg and then continued being a caregiver in homes there.

Returning home in 1990, she continued being a caregiver working in homes and in Hopeton Village where she resided and was surrounded by many beautiful people.

She leaves her family, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, her church family and special friends Jim and Evelyn Anderson, Margaret Brown and Barbara River.

Her mother; step-father; former husband; their infant son, William Eugene; her grandparents, (William and Bessie Mallow); special aunts, Mildred Boyd and Marcella Laughlin; her special friends, Harriet Jones, Kathrine McCorkle, Mary Weinrich; and her companion for 19 years, Meiling (her Shitzu), all preceded her in death.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours as June chose to donate her body to the Ohio State University Division of Anatomy, where cremation will take place.

There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Hopeton Village. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, plant a tree in her memory on Arbor Day; donate flowers to the Altar Flower Fund, Family Life Center c/o Tabernacle Church.
