William Pelfrey Obituary
COLUMBUS: William E. "Rocky" Pelfrey III, of Columbus, passed from this life on June 14, 2009 at 6:15 p.m. at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, due to complications following a heart attack.
William was born on January 18, 1963 in Chillicothe, Ohio to William E. and Stephanie (Sewards) Pelfrey, who precede him in death, along with paternal grandparents, Willie Pelfrey and Mildred (Evans) Strausbaugh, and Clarence Strausbaugh; maternal grandparents, Philip and Beulah (Russell) Sewards.
He is survived by his step-mother, Joan (Taylor) Pelfrey; sisters, Jody (Pelfrey) Sambol, Cindi (Hedderson) Murray, and Marci (Hedderson) Carroll; brothers, James Pelfrey, and Jeff Hedderson; also surviving are nieces, Kelly Murray, Rachel Carroll, Katie and Samantha Sambol; great nephew and niece, Trent Murray and Taylor Royster; a special life long friend, Clarence Black; additionally he is survived by uncles, Kenneth (Patty) Pelfrey, James (Gloria) Pelfrey, Tim Sewards, and Terry Sewards; aunts, Betty (Earl) Clayborn, Melanie Kennedy; and numerous cousins.
Rocky graduated from Unioto High School in 1981, where he was active in marching band, choir, and the drama club. He enjoyed writing and loved music and the arts. He moved to Columbus in 1982 where he developed a career interest in theatre management. He was the head of voluntary services at PBS in Columbus at the time of his passing.
Rocky was loved by many and will be sadly missed. His wishes were to be cremated, so to honor them, no viewing hours will be observed.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at his favorite place; Whetstone Park of Roses, 3901 North High Street, Clintonville/Columbus, Ohio in the back of the park, on June 25, 2009 at 1:30. Friends are invited and very welcome to come share stories and memories, and join in our remembrance.
