Etta Hudson Obituary

Mrs Etta Mae White Hudson was born on Nov. 5, 1947 in Bonifay to the late Jestine White and Robert Horne. On Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family, God dispatched an Angel to escort His servant home to live eternally with Him. Mrs. Etta received her formal education at Bayview School in Bonifay in 1965. She attended Washington Holmes Vocational Technical Center and received her LPN licenses in 1976. She continued her education pursuits and received her RN degree from Pensacola College in 1987 and BSN degree in Nursing from Florida State University in 202 and Masters degree in Nursing from Phoenix University in 2005. She was a Nurse for 36 years. She began her career with Dr. John T Grace and worked at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay. She later transferred to Holmes Correctional Facility, then to Jackson C.I., as a RN Supervisor. She was then promoted to the office of RN Consultant at the Regional Office. She later achieved the position of Assistant DON in the Central Office of the Department of Corrections for the entire State of Florida. One of her happiest memories of her life was meeting and marrying the Rev. Robert E. Hudson in 1977 and to this union a son was born and reared in love along with, Poe, Judy, Barbara, Joseph and Zoey.
Along with her parents, a sister, Diane Flood preceded her o the great beyond.
She leaves to cherish her lovely memories her husband of 36 years, the Rev. Robert E. Hudson; three beloved sons, Poiterist White, Raymond Hudson of Bonifay and Joseph Sanders of Pensacola; three devoted daughters, Judy Love, Barbara Sanders and Zoey Hudson of Bonifay; step-daughter, Elaine Smith of Pensacola; god-daughters, Shenika Richardson (Stephen) of Raleigh, N.C. and Annie Staten of Bonifay; four brothers, Charles White (Nina) of Middletown, Conn.; half-brother, John Horne of Fort Myers; sisters, Icey Horne of Lake Wales, Freda Clark Middletown, Conn.; half-sister, Ether Bell of Fort Myers; a host of in-laws; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; one god son, Tavarus Moore and a host of devoted friends and coworkers.
A homecoming celebration services for Mrs. Etta Mae White Hudson, was conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Bonifay with the Rev. Shelly Chandler, Pastor Min. Stephen Andrews (grandson), Pastor Claretta Smith, Pastor of New Bethel A.M.E Church, where she held Membership, the Rev. Phillip Russ IV, Elder Kelvin Johnson and the Rev. Charles Flowers, Officiated. Interment follows in the Bonifay Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home, directing.
