Roland Jay Whittington

1952 - 2009

Roland Jay Whittington, 68, of Chipley died Feb. 27. He lived in Pensacola for 43 years before returning to Chipley. He accepted Christ as his savior in 1952 and was a member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola and later First Baptist of Chipley. Roland enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Whittington; a son, Eddie Whittington of Chipley; daughters, Beth Rotroff of Pensacola and Kristin Whittington of Chipley; a sister Louise Clenney and husband Taft of Chipley; a brother, Billy Whittington and wife Joy of Chipley; an aunt; one uncle; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; extended family Pat and Kathy Turner of Frisco City, Ala and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held March 2 at First Baptist Church in Chipley with Rev. Mike Orr officiating. Interment followed at Shiloh Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.
