Alverna M. Hilp, 91, of 809 Buttenhoff Rd., Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
She was born Sept. 15, 1918, in the town of Tilden the daughter of Anna (Altman) and John Nazer, Sr. She was raised in Chippewa Falls where she attended school.
Alverna married Peter E. Hilp on Oct. 17, 1936, at the Zion Lutheran Church parsonage. They lived and farmed in the town of Lafayette until 1958. After building a new home they resided in Lafayette until 1964, when they moved to Beaverton, Oregon. They returned to Chippewa Falls in 1981, where she has since resided.
Survivors include: two daughters, Diana (David) Holloway of Chippewa Falls, Carol (George) Ford of Shoreview, Minn.; two sons, Edward Hilp of Chippewa Falls, Otto Hilp of Beaverton, Oregon; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Peter on Nov. 9, 1998; one son Donald in infancy; three sisters, Mary Bowe, Attie Swan, Ann Larson; three brothers, Louie, John and Bernard Nazer.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 28 at Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls with Rev. Craig Mathews officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
