WEST SALEM - Barbara "Barb" C. Kendhammer, 46, of West Salem passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse.
She was born March 4, 1970, in La Crosse, to Merlin and Joyce (Herman) Adams. Barb was a 1988 graduate of West Salem High School. Aug. 3, 1991, she married Todd Kendhammer at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, West Salem. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at a wonderful surprise party their children threw for them. Barb was employed in the food service program at West Salem Middle School for 14 years. She was very proud of what she did; but most especially, she loved the kids and the people she worked with.
Barb found much enjoyment in life. She loved crafts, camping, especially Warren's Cranberry Fest, family trips, snowmobiling up north, going to Country Fest, making lefse with friends, and tending to her flowers and her flower garden. Barb had a special way with animals. She loved taking care of animals and enjoyed taking in pets, including dogs, cats, and uniquely, donkeys and chickens. She even kept them safe and warm in the garage during the winter months.
Barb treasured time spent with her family; especially being "Grammie" to her little peanut, Carlin Richelle Servais. Grammie will certainly be remembered during future visits to the apple orchard, a time she looked forward to spending with her family each year. This year would have been the first with peanut, Carlin; but Barb was taken too soon.
Barb always put everyone else before herself; she always made sure everyone was taken care of. True to this nature, she gave the gift of life to many by being an organ and tissue donor. Barbara will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and the donor recipients she never met.
Survivors include her husband, Todd; daughter, Jessica (Michael) Servais; son, Jordan (Jordan Kaminski) Kendhammer; Grammie's peanut, Carlin; mother, Joyce Adams; brother, David (Stephanie Iverson) Adams; Todd's loving family; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and treasured friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her father; father-in-law, Robert "Chub" Kendhammer; godchild, Ashley McCoy; and beloved companion, her dog, Trixie.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, 500 Park St., West Salem. Pastor Joel Stuebs will officiate. Burial will follow in Neshonoc Cemetery. A visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday, both at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, West Salem.
Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Jostad Chapel, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
