TOWN OF TILDEN - Bernard J. Sykora, 64, of 12103 120th Ave., Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
He was born Oct. 12, 1941, in the town of Howard, the son of James and Gladys (Bowe) Sykora.
He served in the Red Arrow National Guard.
He married Frances Meinen on Aug. 12, 1961, at St. Peter's Church, Tilden.
He worked for Kenny Loew Excavating, Peter's Meats, Packerland Packing, Madison Silo, Perrenoud Construction, Golden Seed and Pine Bluff Dairy.
He was a member of Tilden Lions, Bloomer American Legion #295, Chippewa County Milk Producers, UCT #335, Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974, was a lifetime member of Whitetails Unlimited and St. Peter's Church. He was also an executive board member for Chippewa County Farm Technology Days.
He loved his family, hunting out west, hunting up north, camping up at Chetek, and playing cards with his friends. Bernie really loved doing field work and he was a Sunday driver seven days a week.
He is survived by: his wife, Fran; six sons, Howie (Cathy), Dick (Donna), Dennis (Brenda), Bill (Nita), David (Pamela) all of Chippewa Falls and Mike (Kim) of Hot Springs Village, AR; mother-in-law, Marie Meinen of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Donald (Darlene) of Chippewa Falls; one sister, Judy (Marvin) Topper of Bloomington, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren, Kelly, Ryan, Cortney, Blake, Zach, Tyler, Jessica, Austin, Alyssa, Braxton and Mercedes.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and father-in-law, Walter Meinen.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at St. Peter's Church, Tilden. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Tilden. Military rites will be conducted by the Bloomer American Legion.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, and one hour before the time of services on Saturday at St. Peter's Church, Tilden. There will be a Christrian Vigil Service at 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
